Daft Punk To Appear On ‘The Colbert Report’ Next Week

Daft Punk have rarely crept out of the misted circular pod they call home since they released Random Access Memories earlier this year, but that hasn’t stopped France’s greatest exports since existential despair from being rumored to play at my house, your uncle’s shed, your mailman’s bodega, and now Stephen Colbert’s studio.

Except for once, it’s true.

On Monday night, Stephen Colbert made a surprise appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he and Fallon danced to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” The whole thing lasted no more than 30 seconds and Colbert exited the stage without saying a word. The Huffington Post said Colbert crashed Fallon for “no apparent reason,” though as we learned on tonight’s episode of The Colbert Report, Colbert was, in fact, preparing/hyping for an upcoming appearance from the French robots. No, really.

Daft Punk will make a rare television appearance on The Colbert Report next Tuesday, August 6th as part of Colbert’s Colbchella concert series.

As of press time, it’s unclear whether the duo will be interviewed and/or performing. (Via)

August 6th also happens to be my birthday. Considering I was planning on spending the night awkwardly dancing like an awkward white boy should anyway, might as well be to “Get Lucky” on Colbert. Either that, or drinking my Daft Punk-inspired home brew, Bière de Robot Gap Commercial. Mmm…tastes like motor oil.
