Apparently ‘Professional Daryl Dixon Impersonators’ Are A Real Thing

In a way it’s difficult to describe the crazy fanaticism surrounding AMC’s The Walking Dead. Not only is The Walking Dead a fan favorite television series, but it has developed a cult-like following that is only rivaled by Game of Thrones on television right now. That’s a pretty big deal considering how crazy people are over Game of Thrones. Yet the characters in TWD have captured the hearts and minds of viewers everywhere and it has turned into a cultural phenomenon. How much so? Apparently there are professional impersonators out there who can be hired to hang out at parties and such.

Norman Reedus — who plays The Walking Dead‘s crossbow-wielding bad boy Daryl Dixon — was on CONAN and spoke with Conan O’Brien about the strange feeling that he got when he found out that there were actual Daryl Dixon impersonators for hire out there. His friend bumped into a guy that looked like Reedus, only for him to make a passing comment at the guy and for him to launch into his whole spiel, business-card and all. Apparently on weekends he’s Daryl Dixon, but during the week he plays Norman Reedus.

That’s how you know that you’ve made it, folks; when there are people who dress up like you for a living. Not only is Reedus crushing it, but people pretending to be him can crush it by proxy. Insanity? Sure. Kind of cool? Absolutely. Maybe you could hire Daryl Dixon to mow your lawn or something; imagine what the neighbors would think. Maybe you could hire people to dress like zombies and recreate your favorite scenes on your front lawn, even. The possibilities are endless.
