Donald Glover is quite the renaissance man. The comedian, rapper, and actor is doing it all. And this September, he launches his first solo TV show, Atlanta. The show, airing on FX, will focus on two cousins in Atlanta as they navigate the city’s rap scene. Glover is an Atlanta native and it seems to be something that largely draws from the culture of the city and the people and music it creates.
Today, FX released a new teaser for the show. Those hoping for an extensive look at the content of the show, hints at story lines, and solid one-liners will be thoroughly disappointed. That said, those who get a kick out of watching Donald Glover sleep in different places and then get interrupted will love it. The trailer follows him as he sleeps, naps, and dozes off in a variety of places, ranging from a public park to his bed at home to a friend’s couch. The biggest punchline probably comes in the last vignette, which features him sleeping under the bed of a woman with whom he’s presumably having an affair and then sneaking out.
While it’s difficult to tell exactly what kind of show Atlanta will be solely from this trailer, Glover is an exceptionally talented guy and the teaser is a nice tonal piece that at least lets us know what to expect in tone from the show. Atlanta premieres on FX on September 6th.
