Last night an E! reporter caught up with Mindy Kaling on the Red Carpet for Vanity Fair’s Oscar Party and asked her what “her type” was. Kaling kind of blew off the question with a quick “uh, good looking” — and that’s when things got awkward.
To her credit, Mindy did take it in stride and somehow managed not to bludgeon the E! reporter with her own microphone, which is what I would have done in the situation. Even more disappointing was that the reporter in question was actually African American.
So to recap: Both 12 Years a Slave and Lupita Nyong’o both won big at the Oscars last night, but people are still completely f*cking mystified when it comes to what ethnicity an Indian woman would prefer to date. Progress!
