Eddie Vedder, P!nk, And James Corden Bring The Beatles To Kids In The New ‘Beat Bugs’ Trailer

Netflix just dropped another trailer for its curious new kids’ show, Beat Bugs, which mashes up classic tunes from The Beatles with adorable little insects who go off on adventures and learn some important life lessons together. It’s an odd pairing, sure, but is it really any weirder than other children’s programming? (Looking at you, Teletubbies.) And with the added bonus of exposing another generation to the legendary band, it seems like a no-brainer for parents to at least give the show a shot alongside their tots. (The show’s tagline is a nod to this concept, imploring adults to “share the songs you love.”)

This latest clip offers viewers a closer look at the titular bugs that star in the series, who harmonize on a sugary sweet version of “All You Need Is Love.” Thankfully, there are some other, more well-known (a.k.a. palatable) artists in the mix, too, who cover a total of 52 Beatles tracks throughout the show’s 13-episode first season. The rundown includes P!nk, Sia, Robbie Williams, Eddie Vedder, The Lumineers, The Shins, and James Corden, among many others.

Beat Bugs may not be an earth-changing concept, but it looks quirky and inoffensive and perfectly pleasant. With Netflix dramatically amping up its original programming output this year, there’s bound to be a few duds in the mix, but this doesn’t appear to be one of them. Creator Josh Wakely has said that he already has the rights to about 300 Beatles tunes, and has plans in place for more seasons; the Beat Bugs may just wind up staying together longer than the Fab Four did in the ’60s.
