Thursday’s Lip Sync Battle featured a throwback to Battle of the Network Stars, at least that’s what I like to think. Hayden Panettiere of ABC’s Nashville took on Eva Longoria from NBC’s Telenovela and each decided to pull out their inner diva for their performances. The lip syncing is barely present, but the showcase itself is memorable because each decided to put on their favorite “sexy” Halloween costumes and dance around for Spike’s viewers.
Eva Longoria donned a fake rear and hot pants to perform Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” and she likely would’ve won too. She had the dancers, she was twerking all over the entire episode, and actually kept up with Minaj’s rhymes.
But then Panettiere walked out to perform “Lady Marmalade” from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, complete with Christina Aguilera. Panettiere didn’t do as well with the performance, but calling in some support from the original artist is something that usually ensures a win on this show. Now it would seem that Panettiere gets to take control of Longoria’s family and all of her fiscal assets.
The only confusing part is why Longoria had to wear a fake butt for her segment? She was already showing her own at the start of the show with “Get Low” so there’s no real reason why she had to go fake later on.
