‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Has An Official Premiere Date And A Sneak Peek At Season Two

For many, Fear The Walking Dead was almost forgotten once AMC’s original The Walking Dead returned for more dread with Rick and the crew in Alexandria. For it’s first very short season, Fear showed the opening salvo of the zombie apocalypse that we see in the original series and managed to introduce a set of characters who mirror those on the other show. That’s saying that some very useful, others are worthless, and many are full of stupid decisions.

Still, it managed to plant one or two interesting seeds for what would come next and now AMC has announced its return date. According to Deadline, the second season will premiere on April 10th and will be split in a similar style to The Walking Dead. It will also be accompanied by its own aftershow:

The 15-episode sophomore session of Fear The Walking Dead will be split into two parts, with the final eight airing in the fall. It also unveiled the first photo from Season 2 (right). The cable net also said that Talking Dead, the Walking Dead postshow series that launched in 2011, also will run after Fear The Walking Dead this season.

That’s great news for fans of Chris Hardwick-led chat programs. It’s also good news for AMC since they saw Fear achieve the greatest first season in the history of cable, and hope to keep that success going. It’s really no shock they’re looking for another spin-off.

You can also tell that the network is bolstering their confidence following the end of Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Along with the premiere date, AMC also announced premieres set for a new night of original programming on Tuesdays:

AMC said its six-part miniseries The Night Manager starring Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman — the first TV adaptation of a John le Carré novel in more than 20 years — will kick off a new night of original programming on Tuesday, April 19. And Season 3 of its Revolutionary War drama Turn: Washington’s Spies will premiere April 25.

The network also released a first look image for the cast of The Night Manager, featuring an all-star cast that will hopefully fare better than those we saw on Low Winter Sun. The plot details sound promising:

Former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is recruited by Burr (Olivia Colman), an intelligence operative. He is tasked to navigate Whitehall and Washington, D.C. where there is an alliance between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. He must infiltrate the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Hugh Laurie), Roper’s girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki), and associate Corcoran (Tom Hollander).
