‘Fear The Walking Dead’ To Feast On A Third Season Of Existence

Get your floatation device ready, because Fear The Walking Dead will be roaming the earth and sea for a third season.

AMC has officially given the green light to a third season for the divisive Walking Dead companion series, and the Chris Hardwick hosted aftershow Talking Dead: Fear is getting a renewal too. Considering the network’s been able to crow about robust ratings (8.8 million viewers tuned in to last week’s episode), there isn’t anything particularly shocking about reloading the Sunday night property, even this early in the game.

AMC is promising 16 episodes for season 3 and you can expect them to lurch about in 2017. Fans and critics may have mixed feelings about the series, but the network’s brass is pretty bullish on what they have on their hands. (The program, not blood of the undead.)

“What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in Fear The Walking Dead is to be applauded,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world – it’s fresh, eerie and compelling and we’re all in for the ride. As Victor Strand observed, ‘The only way to survive a mad world is to embrace the madness.’ We thank the millions of fans for embracing this mad world and look forward to sailing far into the future.”

Chalk up a win for madness! Take that, 1980s PSAs!

Episode two of the sophomore season of Fear the Walking Dead is set to air this Sunday on AMC. Here’s a big splashy teaser of what’s to come from the program in 2016.
