AMC Releases The First Official Glimpse Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Season Seven

We’ve still got a long haul ahead of us before The Walking Dead returns for season seven and reveals who died at the end of Negan’s infamous barbed wire baseball bat. Yet we can still expect a couple of crumbs to be thrown our way as we wait. The first trailer for the show’s return will be shown at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 22. And with that just a week and a bit away, we now also have our first look at the show in the form of this photo of Negan given to Entertainment Weekly.

The picture shows Negan wielding the bat he lovingly named Lucille, and seems to show the lead up to whoever gets beaten to death … notice there’s no gore on the weapon like you’d expect The Walking Dead FX people to include. Such a tease! Even in the lead-up to revealing who died, AMC is still being extremely stingy with post-death footage. Don’t worry, though. AMC has promised that there won’t be any dallying when it comes to learning who was killed. No flashback to earlier that day. No switching over to Morgan and Carol and whatever they’re doing.

“Yes, who was at the receiving end of Negan’s bat will be revealed in the first episode,” The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly.

Well, that’s a relief. Because the only way you could anger The Walking Dead fans more than the show did with the season six cliffhanger would be to not resolve it within ten minutes of season seven starting. Actually, that’d be such an epic troll, it would almost be worth witnessing.
