Fox News Scores First Post-Scandal Interview With Jim Bob And Michelle Duggar

The mess called 19 Kids and Counting continues despite the show’s molestation scandal. Hulu pulled the show from their lineup, although TLC is still in it for the long haul. Multiple advertisers have yanked their financial support from the show. General Mills, Payless Shoes, and Choice Hotels are all outta there, and TLC must feel desperate to staunch the bleeding.

In the family itself, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have chosen to “share our hearts” in their first post-scandal interview. Venue shopping is a must in cases like this. Given the support the Duggars have received from presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, Fox News seems like a good fit to interview the family. And that’s exactly what will happen:

Fox News news pundit Megyn Kelly has snagged the first interview with 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, whose son Josh admitted to acting “inexcusably” after a report surfaced that he molested five underage girls when he was 14.

Fox News announced that the interview would air during The Kelly File on Wednesday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. Additional portions will also air during a one-hour special on Friday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET. The duo released this statement on Michelle’s blog: “Next week we will sit down with Megyn Kelly on Fox News to share our hearts with you about the pain that we walked through as a family twelve years ago, the tears we all shed and the forgiveness that was given. We appreciate the outpouring of love and prayers for our family at this time.”

Can this move save TLC’s most successful program? The network wants to hang onto their biggest cash cow after cancelling Here Comes Honey Boo Boo following similar allegations. This Fox interview will allow the Duggars to appeal to the religious right, which makes up much of their TV show audience already. If this seems like a last-ditch movie, that’s because it probably is a last ditch move.
