‘Fuller House’ Tried To Cast Elizabeth Olsen As Michelle Tanner When Mary-Kate And Ashley Passed

Watching Fuller House will be like walking into your living room, but everything seems slightly off. As if someone pushed the couch and television stand six inches to the right. Most of the original Full House cast will be there — even Steve! — but there’s a new Comet, the set looks different, and most notably, Mr. Woodchuck was fed into a wood chipper like Steve Buscemi in Fargo. Also, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen won’t reprise their role as Michelle Tanner, because they don’t consider themselves actresses.

At least that’s what John Stamos told Howard Stern in an interview on his SiriusXM radio show.

“I did call and talked to Mary-Kate and explained what the show is going to be and told them I’d love for them to be on there, and they decided not to, which I respect… They were very, very sweet. They seemed very into it. They just were afraid of acting. They don’t consider themselves actresses. I said maybe you guys will just be in New York and we’ll do a phone call or something and they were like, ‘Let us think about it,’ and it just wasn’t for them so…” (Via)

Uncle Jesse also revealed Fuller House producers reached out to Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s Elizabeth Olsen, of being the most talented Olsen fame, about being the new Michelle. “We talked to her agent,” he said, “and her agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent.” They should get the actress who played First Becky on Roseanne to be Michelle. Or maybe Urkel. Someone from a 1990s ABC sitcom.
