Here’s Who Won The Battle Of The Bastards On ‘Game Of Thrones’

Back in April, before the season started, Game of Thrones co-showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss called season six “the best one we’ve done.” Of course they’re going to say that — every new season is the “best one” yet — but they might be onto something after tonight’s “The Battle of the Bastards.”

After months of anticipation, the Bastard Bowl was finally fought outside the gates of Winterfell, with Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, the littlest badass Lyanna Mormont, and the Free Folk on one side, and Ramsay Bolton’s army on the other. It was a bloody, suffocating battle, with bodies literally piling up like the zombies in World War Z. Jon nearly got smothered by his own men and all hope seemed lost, until the Knights of the Vale came to the rescue like something out of Lord of the Rings. While Littlefinger’s battalion did the dirty work, Jon, Tormund, and Wun Wun followed that coward Ramsay to Winterfell. He thought he was safe behind the castle’s walls. He was wrong.

WUN WUN to the rescue. Unfortunately, Wun Wun lost the battle (it’s been a rough season for giants), but Jon and Sansa won the war, and the most cruel character in Game of Thrones history, Ramsay Bolton, is no more. Now, he’s puppy chow. “The Battle of the Bastards” gave us the happiest ending possible — Sansa was the one to kill Ramsay — and fans are very excited.
