Relive ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 1 With These 8 Behind-The-Scenes Facts Released By HBO

With Game of Thrones entering its sixth season, fans who enjoy the show and the books separately are finally on the same page as far as what is going to happen next in the story. That means one side can’t spoil the other, and everyone gets to be surprised by Red Wedding-esque events all at once. It didn’t used to be that way though, and as early as Season 1 sides were drawn, spoiler alerts were clearly marked, and some fans knew they could hold secrets over friends and family’s heads if necessary.

To take everybody back to those glory days, HBO released some behind-the-scenes fun facts about season one. It’s less a recap than a reminder of how young and innocent everybody was all those deaths ago. Some facts super fans might already know, but were you aware that Maisie Williams is actually a righty in real life but fights left-handed in the show because that’s Arya’s strong hand in the books? That means Williams had to actually go through all of that alternate-handed sword-fighting training, although we’re guessing that she didn’t have to face legitimate death at the hands of a corrupt royal family. Did you also know that Dothraki is a real language that you could potentially learn and use in your real life? Not that there’s a completely reasonable need to actually learn Dothraki, but you can if you want to. Watch the video above for more facts that you might not know, and get ready for season six, which is creeping up on us faster than a direwolf on the hunt.
