‘Game Of Thrones’: Everything That Could Have Gone Wrong, But Didn’t

So many things had to go right for Game of Thrones, arguably the most popular show on television today, to be as successful as it is. If a network like NBC had picked it up, it would have been terrible. If HBO didn’t give showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss a massive budget, it would have been terrible. If Benioff and Weiss hadn’t correctly answered author George R.R. Martin’s question about who Jon Snow’s mother is, well, it might not have even made it to air.

The video above, from the Film Theorists, does a good job of explaining “Why Game of Thrones Almost Never Happened,” and there’s some fun behind-the-scenes stuff in there, too, like the actress who originally played Daenerys. She and Pete Best should form a supergroup.
