Gillian Anderson Discusses Why She And David Duchovny Never Had A Romantic Relationship

Through the X-Files nine season run, it was hard to believe that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, who had so much sex appeal and onscreen charisma, weren’t banging in real life. So when Gillian Anderson recently spoke with HuffPost Live about her upcoming drama series Crisis, they asked her if there was ever any truth to the rumors. Maybe not the most appropriate question, but whatever, I’ll bite.

“Now that it’s over, I can tell you: no.” She added, “It’s a nice idea, but it’s not going to happen.”

The reason? She said the pair became too close during the show’s nine-season run.

“I think we know each other too well. I think we probably know each other better than we know our spouses at any time that we might have had spouses,” she said.

Well, poop. She did, however, admit that the thought crossed her mind. As I’m sure it crosses any red-blooded woman’s mind who shares the same air space as David Duchovny.

But Anderson admitted that she and Duchovny did have a spark.

“There is an attraction,” she said. “There might even be more than an attraction, but it’s not going to happen. And it’s that frisson that has made it interesting in the series and continues to make it interesting.”

I don’t care what she says. If Jackie and Kelso can become a thing that nobody even wants however many years after the fact, then I’m still holding out hope for Mulder and Scully. Mulder + Scully 4EVA!
