Ian McShane Is Bringing Back A Thought Dead Character On ‘Game Of Thrones’

Unlike Justified, Game of Thrones made the wise decision to cast Deadwood‘s Ian McShane in season six. His mysterious role will have a “relatively small amount of screen-time, yet his character is of key importance.” In an interview with Pop Goes the News, McShane, who will also star in an ITV series with Alison Brie, teased, “I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again. I’ll leave it at that.”

We won’t. Let’s speculate (spoilers ahead).

First off, it’s not Jon Snow. There are already enough rumors of resurrection surrounding the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, so we’re leaving him alone. Same with the infamous Lady Stoneheart, who, we’ll remind you for the 475th time, isn’t going to be on the show. McShane is most likely referring to Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, who was wounded by Brienne in the season four finale. The second Arya refused to kill him, the rumormongering began. Is he dead? If not, where is he now? Is HE Lady Stoneheart? (No.)

Rory McCann was spotted on the Belfast set during filming for season six, and book readers are already on the lookout for a gravedigger (and Septon Meribald). Or maybe that troublemaker McShane is f*cking with us. His “you’re never going to see again” character is actually Hot Pie. KNEW IT.
