Ice Cube was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about basketball and to promote 22 Jump Street (review here). He has just enough hokey self-awareness combined with geniune intensity to make almost anything he says — or just things he’s tangentially related to — seem funnier than they should. And so it goes with this bit called “Ice Cube Says Nice Things Angrily”, which is exactly what it says on the tin.
Jimmy Kimmel asked Ice Cube to angrily deliver lines like, “Lavender body wash makes my pores tingle” and “There’s nothing better on a gloomy day than a good book, a warm blanket, and a creamy pumpkin bisque.” I love watching him try to remember that second one. It’s not quite a love like the one in The Notebook, a love that splits the sky, but today was still a good day.
