It Was Bound to Happen: ‘Fear Factor’ Incest

Incest is all the rage this TV season. (I think I’ve been waiting all my life to type that.) We’re all aware of The Scene in “Boardwalk Empire,” but family love has also recently appeared in episodes of “Game of Thrones,” “Bored to Death,” and even “Dexter.” And TV’s recent Edible Complex Extravaganza can’t be contained to just HBO and Showtime anymore; it’s also on network TV, according to one “Fear Factor” contestant.

Ex-bodybuilder Monica (oh boy) appeared on Monday’s “Fear Factor” premiere with her son, Matias, and she claims that the show’s editors “used a clip of her and her son hugging to make it look like they…touch each other too much,” according to TMZ in their typical just-the-facts tone. The article goes on to say:

Monica tells us, “Last night when the show aired, I was SHOCKED. I am appalled and disgusted at the comments of people on the show about Matias’ and my relationship and how it seems ‘inappropriate’ for a mother and son. Are you kidding me?” (TMZ)

She also gets really pissed at host Joe Rogan, because during the episode he said, “I hug my mom every time I see her…but then I let go.” Monica’s response: “Joe Rogan…shame on YOU. You are a father. How dare you talk about my son that way?” Rogan then started blabbering on and on about that if America had REALLY landed on the moon, there would be no more incest.

Frankly, I can’t believe it’s taken this long to mention “Fear Factor” and “incest” in the same sentence.
