It’s Hard To Believe That This Is Steve Buscemi’s First Time On ‘The Late Show’

It was twenty years ago when Steve Buscemi last graced the Ed Sullivan Theater with his presence. He was there to sit with David Letterman and promote Airheads, but never got the chance before being bumped from the show. The producers promised to invite him back and finally did. It just took twenty years for them to do so.

Since 1994, Buscemi has been in countless roles including several guest appearances alongside the likes of Tina Fey and Adam Sandler, plus his own starring role in Boardwalk Empire. I don’t know how it happened, but I assume it has a bit to do with pride. Maybe mix that with forgetfulness and throw it in a blender with bad timing and you’ll get the perfect reason.

At least tonight we can all say we’ve seen Steve Buscemi on The Late Show and sleep a little better. He was there before Letterman retired and he didn’t try to kill anyone in the process. Chalk it up as a win for society.
