Jake Weary is an actor probably best known for his roles on Chicago Fire and As the World Turns. Currently, he plays Deran Cody on TNT’s promising looking Animal Kingdom — which airs each Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST — along with a cast that includes Ellen Barkin and Scott Speedman.
Jake was nice enough to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.
1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?
Extra dirty vodka martini (Tito’s).

“Only You” by Yaz and “The Less I Know, the Better” by Tame Impala.
7. If you could go back and give your 18-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Stop wearing sweatpants with flip flops, bruh. Just…stop.
8. Whats the last thing you googled?
Cheap flights to Cuba.
9. Dogs or Cats?
I was literally a dog in a past life.
10. Best concert of your life was…?
Prince at the Forum in 2011.
11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?
Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi.
12. Whats the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
My mom, to this day, always sends me a cookie cake in the mail for my birthday, every year. I love her so much. (Weary’s mother is longtime Guiding Light star Kim Zimmer.)

14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?
Organize a flag football game with my buds, complete with cheerleaders, stat keepers, and commentators, maybe fireworks when someone scores a touchdown.
15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?
Any Jim Carrey film.
16. The sports team or teams you’re most passionate about?
J! E! T! S! Jets! Jets! Jets!
17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?
Either Morimoto in Hawaii or this little village in the Yucatan Peninsula.
18. The last movie you saw in a theater?
The Jungle Book.
19. Who was your first celebrity crush
Michelle Pfeiffer.
20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?
Fried chicken and cigars.
