James Corden has managed to score some pretty big names for his “Carpool Karaoke” segment on The Late Late Show, which has now been mined for a prime time special and an exclusive Apple Music series. Everyone from Adele to Elton John to frigging First Lady Michelle Obama has sat in the passenger seat next to the British comedian.
One name Corden hasn’t managed to lock down, however, is none other than Kanye West. It was not for lack of effort, though. In a preview for his cover story in the August issue of British GQ, Corden reveals that we’ve been this close to a Kanye West “Carpool Karaoke” twice now, but unfortunately both times ‘Ye had to pull out last minute. But at least he felt bad about it!
“Kanye has been booked to do Carpool Karaoke now twice and both times something came up. He’ll do it eventually. He wants to do it. [When he cancelled he sent] about three dozen white roses, of course. Arranged in the shape of a cube. What could be more Kanye than that?…
Expect Taylor Swift to record her own “Carpool Karaoke” segment in 3… 2… 1… Corden also revealed who his ultimate dream guest would be.
[The dream would be] Beyonce. It would break the internet. She’s on tour right now. We’re working on it.”
Now, there’s “Kim Kardashian’s ass break the internet” and then there’s “Beyonce ‘Carpool Karaoke’ break the internet.” which might actually have the power to literally shut down the internet, or at the very least, YouTube. Part of me almost hopes we never have to find out.
