The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Partnership You’ve Been Waiting For Is Happening In Season 7

[Potential spoilers for Game of Thrones season seven]

It may have taken six seasons, but Daenerys Targaryen is finally sailing back to Westeros to take what is hers, with fire and blood. And maybe some Snow.

Game of Thrones season six ended with Dany on a boat heading west, while up north, her maybe-nephew Jon Snow and Sansa Stark recaptured Winterfell with help from Littlefinger’s army. The thinking has been that Dany and Jon will fulfill the role of Azor Ahai, “the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire.” He’s the ice to her fire, which is supposed to sound gross and romantic — Targaryens are cool with incest, and before the start of the series, during the Dance of the Dragons, a pact was formed that a Targaryen princess would marry into the Stark family. Daenerys and Jon getting hitched would seal the alliance and give her a stronger claim to the throne.

For that to happen, though, the two unlikely heroes — he’s a bastard with a direwolf, she ate a horse’s heart and flies around on a dragon, and I’d totally watch that rom-com — need to actually meet. It looks like that’s finally happening in season seven. Watchers on the Wall reports that “filming has been ongoing on the lovely islet of Gaztelugatxe in Basque Country for the past couple days, with major Game of Thrones characters descending to begin shooting scenes for season seven.” These aren’t Little Bird rumors, either — there’s visual proof of who these “major Game of Thrones characters” are.

If Jon plans on marrying Daenerys, or at least forming an arrangement with her, he’d better act soon. She’s been spotted on set with another man.

Who needs an Iron Throne when you’ve got a pineapple under the sea?
