Fresh off her Emmy win for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series, Kate McKinnon stopped by The Tonight Show last night, to chat with Jimmy Fallon who asked her about her pet cat — or as she puts it, her “son Nino Positano.” McKinnon has spoken at length about Nino in the past, who had a bit of a weight problem at 17 pounds, but as she revealed to Fallon, he’s since been put on a “small diet” and now looks great.
She even brought along a picture of Nino, pre-diet, sitting in one of those special sweatshirts that has a pocket for your cat, which is almost definitely not intended for a 17 pound cat, as you can see the pocket straining under Nino’s massive girth. Although Nino was apparently not a fan of the pocket hoodie, nor is he a fan of all the “fun stuff” McKinnon buys for him, as she told Fallon, “All he wants is individual drips from my bathroom drain … I bought him a bed, he sleeps on the floor. Ungrateful! Ungrateful. I came home, I told him I won an Emmy, he was like, yeah, go scoop the crap from my box.” Welcome to the joys of being a cat owner!
Speaking of her Emmy, McKinnon also revealed that she doesn’t remember winning her Emmy, nor does she know where it currently is now. But she has been seeing pictures of it on Facebook with other people, as her Emmy is apparently having some grand adventure “like the Travelocity gnome.”
