Kevin Smith Shares A Texting Horror Story Involving Himself And His Daughter

From the outside, Kevin Smith and his daughter Harley Quinn Smith appear to have the sort of close father-daughter relationship that any Dad would dream of. Harley is an actress that has appeared in her Dad’s films, and whenever he speaks about her you can see the joy in his eyes. He even goes out of his way to put the internet trolls attacking his daughter in place. That being said, there are certain unsaid subjects that are off limits in a father and daughter relationship — we’re going to go ahead and say nicknames her Mom has given Smith during sex fit squarely inside said off-limits box. Kevin Smith shared an unfortunate instance of breach of this contract between he and his daughter while appearing on the Stephen Colbert The Late Show last night, and just listening to it will make you want to take a hot shower.

According to Kevin, Harley had texted him asking if he wanted to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Smith — in an attempt to dissuade her from wanting to go, texted her that the lines might be too long at the just opened park; then things got weird. Harley texted him back “We can just buy front-of-the-line passes, Dumbledick.” This text, understandably, gave Smith pause — but not for the reasons you’d expect. No, it’s much worse than you’re thinking. As it turns out, “Dumbledick” isn’t some Dumbledore play on words, – it’s a name Kevin’s wife used during a sex game. “We were fooling around,” Kevin told Colbert. “It was a sex thing. It was kinda like ‘the wand chases the wizard’ sort of thing.” When Smith shot back “Only your Mom calls me that.” Harley replied “Oh, Mr. Thin-Skinned Dumbledick, bothered by his nickname.” Apparently, Harley had in the past heard her Mom call her Dad ‘Dumbledick’ but had no idea what it meant. When Smith informed his daughter that the hilarious name she kept calling him is actually a “filthy sex thing,” her Mom uses with him in bed, her response was exactly as you might expect.

“Oh my God.” she wrote back to Smith. “I just threw up in my mouth, a little.”
