‘Last Man On Earth’ Had Way Better Ratings Than ‘Family Guy’ Last Week

When it comes to pitching new shows for television, Last Man on Earth on FOX sounds like a bit of a stretch. Phil Miller (Will Forte) is supposedly the last man on earth, and spends his days doing whatever he wants. Until he meets other people — making him the “last” no longer.

According to Vulture, the show’s premise is working really, really well:

After a surprisingly strong opening, newly-released DVR ratings show last week’s Last Man scored a 3.0 rating among adult viewers under 50, putting it ahead of lead-in Family Guy as well as usual Sunday night network demo champ Once Upon a Time (both of which averaged a 2.8 rating after three days’ worth of DVR replays.) In fact, Last Man was easily Fox’s top-rated comedy last week, retaining 91 percent of its March 1 premiere audience in the advertiser-coveted demo.

No, that’s not a typo. Last Man beat out Family Guy. So not only has Forte’s new comedy performed exceptionally well, it also predicted the coming apocalypse. I for one look forward to having my own margarita pool, sans salt.
