Legends of Tomorrow has gleefully been using its concept to be as many shows and movies as it wants to be. It’s been Doctor Who, last week saw a little dash of Mad Max thrown into the mix, and now it’s decided it wants to be Star Trek!
No, really, watch that trailer and tell us that’s not a classic Star Trek setup right there. There’s a ship mysteriously stranded in space, the distinct possibility it could be a trap, a crewmember trapped outside the ship with a limited amount of air, and they even have one of the cast make a dark premonition. All they really need is Troi to suddenly start clutching at her head and you’ve got some prime The Next Generation right there. Also at least 10 episodes of Voyager and at least two more of Enterprise.
That said, the clear plot driver here is clearly the growing rift between Mick and Snart. Mick is angry Snart didn’t want to stay in a criminal paradise, while Snart seems more or less convinced Mick’s being stupid. And he’s right, Mick is being pretty dumb here, but it’s strange how entertaining interpersonal drama becomes when the two people involved are packing flamethrowers and freeze rays. But we’ll find out tonight at 8 p.m. EST on the CW. Join us, won’t you?
