Now that we’re clear of the pilot, Rip Hunter can finally learn what should have been pretty obvious in the first place. Namely, that putting an assassin and two master thieves in a time machine was never going to end well. Especially right after the team got their collective butts handed to them at the end of the pilot.
To be fair, Hunter does have a pretty solid plan, which weirdly does not involve going back in time and keeping Malcolm from collecting some dead guys ashes like a total creeper. No, instead, the team is going to go attack Savage’s financial assets, which really is probably where they should have started before they botched the timeline and screwed up Dr. Stein’s life but good. Meanwhile, Snart and his fiery buddy decide to steal an emerald because, come on, they’ve got a time machine. Also, they’ve got Ray running around being all tiny because he can do that now, and who doesn’t love adorable doll-sized Ray?
So, yeah, there’s a lot going on this episode, but if nothing else, it means a limit to the dramatics. The Flash and Arrow are getting a little too wrapped up in their drama plotlines recently, so tonight should be a nice palate-cleanser. We’ll find out tonight at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
