Let’s Talk This Week’s Geeky TV: ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Punches Out The Nazis

The season premiere of Legends of Tomorrow was pretty much a perfect encapsulation of the show: Rip Hunter is the Doctor meets James Bond, Sarah is seducing all the lesbians of history, Mick just wants some booze, and everything is basically a gleeful pulp adventure. Something that last week’s cliffhanger is only going to reinforce.

Rip Hunter, time master, is missing, and after their first successful mission, the team suddenly discovers that, uh, they’re no longer the only superteam in existence, as the Justice Society of America shows up and is less than enthused about a bunch of time travelers in their midst. On the other hand, time travelers beat the heck out of Nazis, so the two are going to team up to apply American fists to Axis faces.

Legends of Tomorrow is also in an unusual place because unlike its stablemates, it’s got 13 episodes instead of 23. So that means the plotlines will have to be a little tighter, but that also gives them a bit more latitude to move things along. Besides, if the second episode is half as funny as the premiere, this show will be around for a while. We’ll see what it has tonight at 8pm EST on the CW. Join us, won’t you?
