Lewis Black addressed America’s ever-changing attitudes on how we treat animals on last night’s Daily Show. Barnum & Bailey is phasing elephants out of their shows due to pressure for how the animals are kept, SeaWorld is losing money because of negative publicity over the Blackfish documentary, and even McDonald’s is going to start raising their chickens without injecting them full of antibiotics, although the latter is primarily for human benefit.
McDonald’s has no plans to stop using antibiotics in the beef and pork they produce, which leads Lewis Black to come to terms with the fact that, yes, the McRib Sandwich is actually made out of pork and not its own species of animal. I’m more surprised that the McRib contains biological materials of any kind.
