Film Legend Max Von Sydow Will Bring ‘Game Of Thrones’ Three-Eyed Raven To Life

Game Of Thrones season six is adding the classic star power for season six. We already got word that Ian McShane is bringing his foul mouth back to HBO for a spot on the show, but now we know that film legend Max Von Sydow is joining the cast as well. According to Entertainment Weekly, the film legend is going to add to his slate that features a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens by teaching Bran Stark a thing or two as the three-eyed raven.

The raven last appeared in the season four finale in his old man, human form (portrayed by another actor, obviously). It was a moment that spelled out great things to come for Bran Stark and Von Sydow seems to be top notch choice for such a role (especially since Hollywood seems to be losing the great old actors of yesterday).

Entertainment Weekly notes that the screen time won’t be hefty for either McShane or Von Sydow, but the roles will still carry a lot of weight. It should also be noted that this isn’t Von Sydow’s first trip into the realm of fantasy. You might remember him from his role in the original Conan The Barbarian as King Osric, paying Conan and his band of rogues to go retrieve his daughter from the snake lord Thulsa Doom.

If the clip below doesn’t help, you’ve surely seen Von Sydow in The Exorcist, Three Days Of The Condor, The Seventh Seal, Needful Things, or as Jesus in The Greatest Story Ever Told. The guy has gotten around.
