Macklemore Gives ‘Dance Off’ An Office-Themed Remix On ‘The Tonight Show’

Love him or hate him, you have to admit that no one mackles more than Macklemore when it comes to being creative with his performances. After recently giving us a healthy dose of Idris Elba in the music video for their single “Dance Off,” Macklemore and Ryan Lewis appeared on The Tonight Show Wednesday night to promote their No. 1 album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, with a special remix performance of the hit single.

Specifically, they made an office-based remix that somehow celebrates the awfulness of that cubicle lifestyle that most of us know so well. Wearing his best Ben Wyatt gear, Macklemore and his crew dance through one of the more boring workplace settings we’ll ever see before busting out into the Tonight Show studio to handle the rest of their swaggy business. The highlight of the performance – again, depending on how you feel about Macklemore – is Jimmy Fallon’s role as the hype man at the end of the song. It’s like he injected himself with a lethal dose of Flavor Flav. Jimmy Fallon simply loves Macklemore.

Sadly, when it comes to the “office” theme, despite this being an NBC production, there is no appearance of Michael Scott or any of his Dunder-Mifflin drones. Most Macklemore performances would probably be a little better if they ended with a cut-shot to Jim Halpert’s trademark expression.
