Married is returning to FX on July 16. Before the start of season two, we thought it would be fun to go back through some of the best moments from last season and the sometimes charming, sometimes horrifying, and oftentimes relateable married life of Russ and Lina, and the unique adventures of their friends.
The series premiere immediately gave us a look a Russ and Lina’s sex life, or lack thereof.
That’s the kind of easy acceptance of a partner’s foibles that comes from being chained together in loving matrimony for years, but there are drawbacks, as well.
But at least they try. Succeeding, however…
Russ’ friends have their own relationship issues. Take Jess, for instance. She and her husband have an age gap and an intimacy deficit to contend with.
Like, not really well at all.
With bursts of sunshine like that in their lives, you can understand why Russ and Lina strive to make some new friends, but it doesn’t work out super well.
Maybe it’s because they aren’t super great at playing well with others.
Or the time Lina tried to get her old job back before deciding that she’d rather just quit again.
Still, while Russ and Lina don’t have the perfect marriage or the perfect friends, they’re always there for each other. Like when Lina talked Russ through a pressure-packed whack sesh at a doctor’s office.
And it’s clear that they can’t envision a future without each other…
Well… it’s always good to have a plan B.
And that’s just the first season. The second has plenty more in store:
