According to multiple posts on the actor and entrepreneur’s Instagram feed, Nick Cannon’s grandfather passed away this weekend. James Cannon Sr. was a constant presence around Nick, at home and on the red carpet. Based on the social media posts he and his grandson were very close. While Cannon has been somewhat out of the spotlight in recent months, he has multiple projects in the works and is of course always working on co-parenting his two children with his ex, Mariah Carey.
Via XXL Mag, some of the pictures Nick posted include he and his late grandfather heading to church, on awards show red carpets, and goofing off with friends and family. It is undoubtedly a heartbreaking loss for Nick and his children. The photo of Cannon, his grandfather, and his son Moroccan snuggling in bed is enough to make anyone twinge with a bit of sadness. A cause of death was not given for James’ death, but one photo includes a caption of “just 2 weeks ago” with James looking to be in seemingly okay health.
