Better be sitting down because we have some phenomenal Brooklyn Nine-Nine casting news. EW is reporting that Nick Offerman will be appearing on the November 22 Thanksgiving-themed episode of the Fox series titled “Ava.” And it gets even better because Offerman will be playing a character named Frederick, who is the ex-boyfriend of Captain Holt. I repeat: Nick Offerman and Andre Braugher will be playing (hopefully and most likely adversarial) former lovers. Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

Details are of course tightly under wraps, but what we do know is that Frederick will cross paths with Holt in a storyline that involves Terry’s wife Shannon (Merrin Dungey) giving birth to the couple’s third child. Being that both Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Parks and Recreation were both created by showrunner Michael Schur, and that many comparisons have been made between the characters of Ron Swanson and Captain Holt, this casting could literally not be any more perfect.

Now all I want to do is dream-cast other Parks and Rec actors for Brooklyn Nine-Nine cameos. Jim O’Heir as either Hitchcock or Scully’s long lost brother? Aubrey Plaza as Rosa’s college roommate? Retta as Boyle’s ex-wife, whom we’ve still yet to meet? The possibilities go on and on.
