Peter Capaldi ‘Thrilled’ To Make His San Diego Comic Con Debut For ‘Doctor Who’

Fire up your Human TARDIS costume, because Peter Capaldi will appear at the San Diego Comic Con this summer for Doctor Who. The show will return to SDCC after last year’s surprising no-show, marking the convention debut of Capaldi, whose Time Lord is the 12th iteration of the character. The BBC scheduled the show’s panel for Hall H on July 9. Joining Capaldi onstage are Jenna Coleman (Clara), Michelle Gomez (Missy), lead writer/executive producer Steven Moffat, and executive producer Brian Minchin.

In the official press release from the BBC, Capaldi sounds absolutely delighted about the whole thing:

“Tales of San Diego Comic Con are told in awe on every set around the known fantasy/sci-fi production world. It’s become a fabled kingdom. One I am thrilled to find myself heading for. And to appear in the legendary Hall H is a further twist to the cosplay and comic madness I may never recover from.”

The return to SDCC is a wise one, as the BBC hopes Doctor Who will last at least five more years. The ninth season will kick off later this year with a two-part premiere episode, “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar.”

Exactly how many Human TARDIS costumes will appear at SDCC? Plenty, no doubt.
