‘Walking Dead’ Creator Robert Kirkman Came Up With Alternative Zombie Names

Yes, what The Walking Dead did during Sunday’s episode may have been a terrible mess at best and colossally stupid and manipulative at worst, but it’s still less idiotic than the characters refusing to say the word “zombie.” Creator Robert Kirkman explained that’s because he created a universe in which George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, and therefore the entire zombie genre, doesn’t exist. Hence, they’re roamers, or biters, or lamebrains.

But never zombies.

The preferred term amongst Rick and his crew is “walkers,” but on this week’s Comedy Bang Bang (or Comedy Fang Fang, recorded in front of a DEAD studio audience at 1122 Boogie Woogie Avenue), Kirkman revealed a few more possibilities. There are groaners, dead dudes, Limpy McFlesheaters, hungry hungry dead people, dirty munchers, crunch monsters, Scary Mary and the Spooky Bunch, and chompy boys. Let’s give one of ’em a shot: “Oh man, can you believe all those Limpy McFlesheaters totally trapped Rick in his RV?”

Yup, works for me.
