‘The Daily Show’ Imagining Sean Spicer As A Kindergarten Teacher Makes It Clear He Missed His Calling

As Trevor Noah pointed out on The Daily Show Wednesday night, Sean Spicer has really been the breakout star of the Trump administration. While the tiniest, angriest press secretary started out as “incompetent,” Noah says, “I gotta admit, he’s totally changed his game. I mean he’s still incompetent, but now he does exactly what Trump wants, which is to complete disdain for the media.” Noah followed up that statement by running a clip of Spicer talking down to reporters, informing them that “we’re going to raise our hands like big boys and girls,” making patty-cake references, and admonishing interruptions.

It’s almost as if, Noah adds, “He looks less like a press secretary and more like an overworked kindergarten teacher.” To that point, the editing geniuses at The Daily Show put together this clip mashing up Spicer yelling at the media with a group of actual kindergarten students yelling questions and talking back to him, and it’s clear that the guy really missed his calling in life.

They even swapped out April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks (recently hired by CNN), who was scolded by the press secretary for “shaking her head” with a little girl who demanded to know why it wasn’t her turn to feed the fish. Appropriately, the whole thing ends with the group of children chanting “We want tax returns! We want tax returns!”

Out of the mouths of babes…
