Seth Meyers Is The Frontrunner To Be The New Regis

Ever since Regis Philbin stepped down as co-host of Live!, to live a life full of Pepsi commercials and Donald Trump-assisted Christmas albums, the talk show has been looking for a new host, someone who can put up with Kelly Ripa’s endless blabbering about her kids and the over-eager human puppy that is Michael Gelman. That someone might be SNL‘s head writer, Seth Meyers.

On Monday, July 9th, Meyers starts a five day stint. It’s the first Monday to Friday stint for any co-host since Neil Patrick Harris from November 28-December 2 last year…I’m told that if Meyers gets the job, and it seems likely, he’ll still do the news on Saturday Night Live. He may have to resign as head writer of the show, however, given the Live schedule. (Via)

The other top candidates are Michael Strahan (???) and Josh Groban, but I think I speak for everyone when I say: HIRE SETH MEYERS. He’s been a head writer of SNL for seven seasons now, which is the longest span since Jim Downey from 1986-1995, and it’s time for someone new to take over. Meyers favors a style of comedy that’s goofy and safe, which isn’t what SNL should be. Let Meyers be the new Regis (just typing that out sounds right), make John Mulaney head writer, and put Nasim Pedrad into more skits. It’s just that simple.
