Showtime’s ‘Billions’ Has A Premiere Date And A Really Intriguing Full-Length Trailer

Back in July, Showtime shared a short, 60-second sneak peek at its new Wall Street series Billions, starring Damian Lewis from Homeland as a big fancy capitalist fever dream and Paul Giamatti from literally everything else as the U.S. Attorney tasked with investigating him. It looked really good, or at least, really intriguing. Here’s how Deadline described it when it was announced:

Written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, Billions is a fictional drama that takes a close look at the world of high finance by tracking the approaching collision between two titanic figures — the hard charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhodes (Giamatti), and the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis).

Bobby Axelrod! That’s just a great hedge fund king name. Like Luther Montecarlo, or Karl Vortex. Of Vortex Capital.

Anyway, now Showtime has released a full-length, movie-style trailer for the show that adds an additional 90+ seconds to the original, and yup, this sucker still looks super interesting. In addition to more out of Lewis (“What’s the point of having f*ck you money if you never say f*ck you?”) and Giamatti (“You wouldn’t know the right thing to do if it kneeled down and sucked YOUR TINY…”), the trailer also gives us extended glances at the rest of the cast, which includes Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Maggie Siff (Sons of Anarchy), Toby Leonard Moore (Daredevil) and David Costabile (Breaking Bad). It all looks very promising at this point. Karl Vortex is advising his clients to buy now and get in on the ground floor.

Billions premieres January 17 at 10 p.m., following the season six premiere of Shameless.
