A Side-By-Side Comparison Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Mid-Season Finale With The Comics

One of the biggest complaints that many had with The Walking Dead mid-season finale — and even this entire season — is that it seemed completely designed to go back and take advantage of The Governor’s storyline from the comic-books. Basically, the season three finale should’ve ended with The Governor attacking the prison in the tank. But it didn’t, and so Scott Gimple and the writers circled back around and captured, in the mid-season finale, many of those iconic moments from Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel.

For those who don’t read the comics, the below GIFS — from this fantastic tumblr — show you just how well the mid-season finale tracked the comics. SPOILERS The Governor attacked the prison in the same way (and announced “KILL THEM ALL” in both instances), he was executed in a similar manner, and Rick and Carl left the prison similarly. One difference, however, is that instead of decapitating Hershel, The Governor in the comics decapitated Tyreese. Also, of course, The Governor in the comics looked more like Danny Trejo than David Morrissey.

Here’s a cool GIF comparison of the two mediums.
