Back in July, news hit that Fox was planning a Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover event. The concept might be a bit baffling, but in this kooky time for television entertainment, this idea might be just what both shows need to gain a ratings bump to hopefully give both series a sense of rejuvenation.
Entertainment Weekly was in attendance at Fox’s TCA panel where the network released further details about the mashup while comparing it to “a great episode of The X-Files“:
“The Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover is like a great episode of The X-Files, where the Bones hour is the Scully, logic-based perspective and the Sleepy Hollow hour is more Fox Mulder-esque,” said Michael Peterson, executive producer of Bones. “Put them together, and it’s going to be a great two-hour event that fans of both programs are going to love.”
The two hour TV event will find Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) hunting for clues behind the discovery of mysterious human remains. On the hunt, the two run into Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) which leads the new investigating team on — what I can only hope — will be a Scooby Doo-style supernatural murder mystery extravaganza!
One can only hope, right? The Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover event will air on Thursday October 29th, on Fox. Happy Halloween, or something.
