Wondering what “Weekend Update” will be like when Seth Meyers departs Saturday Night Live for his new Late Night gig, leaving Cecily Strong all alone at the desk? Look no further than her five-minute performance during the Yahoo keynote at this week’s Consumer Electronic’s Show.
Strong essentially used the CES appearance as a tune-up for her fast-approaching solo hosting duties, even pulling the very “Update” move of welcoming an in-character Kenan Thompson to the desk. The only major difference was the material pool. Strong is clearly hamstrung by having to make tech-centric jokes for the entire performance. But she still gets some zingers in there, including one about fitness-related Facebook statuses.
