‘South Park’ Has Been Renewed For Three More Seasons, Through 2019

A few weeks back, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said the show would basically stay on the air forever unless Comedy Central canceled it. Today, we got three years closer to forever, as Comedy Central renewed the show for three more seasons. The deal will take the show through 2019 and 300 episodes, which is, from a purely mathematical perspective, so many episodes. Sayeth Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless:

South Park remains the bedrock of Comedy Central and we are thrilled that new episodes will continue to entertain audiences for years to come. The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in, it continues to draw generations of new fans.”

So, there you have it. South Park will be around until 2019. I mean, unless a meteor hits the Earth between now and then, killing us all. Which would be a shame, because the South Park episode that airs the Wednesday after the apocalypse would probably be pretty good.
