You might think that money was the biggest reason that Harrison Ford returned to play Han Solo for a fourth time in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it turns out that is not the case. In fact, Stephen Colbert apparently played a big role when he met with J.J. Abrams and Harrison Ford in a hotel lobby to compete for the return of Han Solo. Ford obviously seemed a little hesitant to do the role at first, but his mind soon changed when Colbert showed up in full Han Solo costume.
It turns out it was all a ploy by the crafty J.J. Abrams to convince Ford to do the film on his own, something he’s on record as saying he was done with a few years back. All buried and gone by this point because Colbert’s ruse worked, and Harrison Ford is back for the role that made him a star.
Too bad, though. Colbert had the moves down pat, and it might’ve been better to see a more spry Han Solo trying to move his way around the battlefield. Hard to believe that Harrison Ford is going to be doing it all again at his age (and that he’s up for another Indiana Jones, which Colbert is ready for, too).
