Stephen Colbert And John Oliver Skewered Hillary Clinton’s A Capella ‘Fight Song’

The star-studded, Elizabeth Banks’-directed version of “Fight Song” probably took a good long while to make. After all, Sia‘s got to pencil her recording in between wig fittings and Anonymity Anonymous meetings. But it took Stephen Colbert and John Oliver less than a minute and a half to tear the whole thing to the ground. In their reworked version of the track, Colbert stars as the most literal a capella group member ever and Oliver points out the obvious: a capella renditions can be incredibly annoying.

Inserted alongside the actual stars of the clip, Colbert busts out his best “drum, drum bass” notes, whips out a didgeridoo and practices his ventriloquism. Colbert’s clowning makes the other performances look embarrassingly earnest in comparison, with Oliver declaring the whole thing “awful” and rocking Sia’s signature locks. Check it out up top.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert has been absolutely excellent at skewering both parties’ conventions, even when they needed to call in outside help from The Daily Show alums like Jon Stewart and Lewis Black. On his own, Colbert has crashed both convention stages in character as a mad member of the elite class from The Hunger Games and held great interviews with key party members like Cory Booker.
