The Americans is occasionally dismissed as a show where “nothing happens.” It’s too slow, and too dark, and when are they going to get to the fireworks factory? To respond to those criticisms in order: The pacing is unhurried, not plodding, and allows for the kind of deep-dive character development you don’t get on other shows, particularly ones created by Ryan Murphy; America’s dark, bro; and based on a teaser FX released today, this season.
The action picks up soon after the events of last year’s excellent finale, when Paige revealed to Pastor Tim (he’s a dead man) that her parents are undercover Russian agents. Typical stuff for a teenage girl to go through.
In the latest teaser for season four (which premieres March 16), not only does Paige tell Elizabeth and Philip what she did, next-door neighbor Stan also looks like like he’s closing in on the Jennings. Plus, Martha! Character Actress Margo Martindale! Munchkins?

“This season on The Americans, Elizabeth and Philip get caught by the Feds when they eat a Munchkin with RED jelly at Dunkin’ Donuts.”
