Last week on The Flash, Zoom’s attempt to take over Earth-1 failed miserably, so he rather spitefully bumped off a member of the team instead of just heading home. So, Barry, showing the thoughtfulness we expect from all grieving sons, challenges Zoom to a race. Surely this will end well!
Joking aside, the second season has been a fairly fun ride, full of unexpected villains and twists and turns. The introduction of Earth-2 and its doppelgangers could have muddled the show, but instead let the cast have a little fun and tweak their roles while broadening out the wider universe. Everything it hinted at, from evil Caitlin to Jay Garrick, has paid off in fun and often surprising ways that pay tribute to the comics and their willingness to introduce odd ideas while resolutely being its own show.
That said, come on, nobody can just give Barry a gun or pump Zoom full of speed drugs that make him explode? We’re kind of around the bend when it comes to taking the moral high ground here. Where’s the Penguin and his rocket launcher when you most need them? We’re sure Barry will come up with something, and we’ll find out what it is tonight at 8 p.m. EST on the CW. Join us, won’t you?
