The First Season 2 Trailer For ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Paints An Intense Portrait Of What’s To Come

Bring on another season of emotional gut punches, horrifying real-world parallels and praying to see Joseph Fiennes beaten to a beardy pulp. The Handmaid’s Tale has taken a break of swimming in a pool of Emmys, Golden Globes and other accolades to unveil a “First Look” at season 2.

As you might suspect, the Hulu drama isn’t taking a hard turn into Fuller House type goofs-n-spoofs for the next go-around. Soundtracked by a Buffalo Springfield cover, we’re presented with an intense series of images featuring the cast often in moments of reflection, mourning or just plain ol’ waiting for death. Not too much is given away, but things look “complicated” for Elisabeth Moss’ Offred and the season finale revelation that closed out the debut showing.

The teaser arrives accompanied by news on when The Handmaid’s Tale will return. Hulu has the 13-episode second season debuting April 25 on the streaming service.

Award show acclaim aside, the source material’s author (and series producer alongside Moss) Margaret Atwood is currently the subject of controversy in her home country of Canada. Atwood’s op-ed on the #MeToo movement in The Globe & Mail has sparked backlash and debate within the nation about the content of her remarks and crticism of the campaign.
