Marshawn Lynch Relives Super Bowl XLIX In This Clip From ‘The League’ Premiere

Everyone knows of the Madden Curse, but there might be something to The League Curse. Among the show’s highest-profile NFL cameos, Antonio Gates was suspended, Chad Johnson was arrested, Adrian Peterson was arrested and suspended, RGIII’s knee exploded, and Trent Richardson, well, Trent Richardson always sucked. That has nothing to do with Ruxin. Point is, I hope such a curse isn’t real, because the NFL would be a lot less interesting without Marshawn Lynch in it. He was on the show last year and will return in the seventh (and final) season.

In the clip below, Lynch relives Super Bowl XLIX, when he didn’t get the ball, but Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler did. The same thing happens on The League, only with a beer instead of a football, and I don’t remember Ricardo Lockette catching on fire after the play.

Meanwhile, showrunner Jeff Schaffer said they reached out to another player from that game. (Via TheWrap):

“We tried pretty hard,” [Schaffer] said of his attempt to get Tom Brady for his Deflategate episode this season, which is now in the can. “He’s a little bit occupied right now.”

Yet Brady was available for Ted 2. He deserves his suspension.
