The Red Viper Will Hunt Down Pablo Escobar In A New Netflix Series

Fresh off his role as the Red Viper on Game of Thrones, Pedro Pascal has landed another role that involves doing battle with a giant. But it’s a figurative giant this time. And the show is on Netflix instead of HBO. And it’s set in the 1980s. In Colombia instead of a fictional kingdom. And there’s gonna be a crapload of cocaine instead of dragons. Other than that, almost exactly the same.

Narcos is the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It centers on notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and Javier Pena (Pascal), a Mexican DEA agent sent to Colombia on a U.S. mission to capture, and ultimately kill him.

So, three things:

1) Why yes, I will watch a series about the Red Viper hunting down Pablo Escobar. Good looking out, Netflix.

2) I know the role of Pablo Escobar has already been cast, but let’s be honest here: It would have been a little hilarious if they brought in Hafþór Björnsson to play him. “But he’s from Iceland and Pablo Escobar is Colombian” you say. “And he doesn’t exactly have the track record to carry a big series like this, seeing as he’s more of a keg-hurling strongman than a classically trained thespian.” Agreed on all points. Now shut up and let me dream.

3) If whoever is producing this show is reading this post, please consider using this song for the opening credits. Thank you.
